What Wire Decking Does
A welded mesh panel on support channels, laid across a beam pair. Holds loose cases and supports loads within its rating. Lets sprinkler water through. Waterfall decks bend over the beam; flush decks stop at its edge.

Sizes and Capacities
| Deck size (D x W) | Fits | Channels |
|---|---|---|
| 42" x 46" | 42" frame, 96" beam (2 decks per bay) | 3 |
| 42" x 52" | 42" frame, 108" beam (2 decks) | 3 |
| 48" x 46" | 48" frame, 96" beam | 3 to 4 |
| 42" x 58" | 42" frame, 120" beam (2 decks) | 4 |
| 36" x 46" | 36" frame, 96" beam | 3 |
Deck depth is the nominal frame depth; the outside waterfall measurement can differ. The rating is on the maker's label, for load spread evenly. Pallet runners and point loads need the maker's rating for that load. For small parts use 2" x 2" mesh or a solid insert.
When You Need Wire Decking
- Hand-stacked cases, totes, odd shapes.
- Loads that need support between the beams, within the deck rating. Broken pallets come out of service.
- Pick levels.
- Fire code: solid decking usually needs in-rack sprinklers.
- Insurance on levels with loose product.
Need Decks?
Common sizes ship from stock; odd sizes take a couple of weeks. See used wire decks.
Common questions
Do I need wire decking on pallet rack?
Not for good pallets on a 42-inch frame. Yes for hand-stacked cases, totes and odd shapes, and where the fire marshal or insurer asks. Broken pallets come out of service.
What size wire deck fits my rack?
A 42-inch frame with 96-inch beams takes two 42 x 46 decks; 108-inch beams take two 42 x 52. Waterfall on step beams, flush with clips on box beams.
How much weight does a wire deck hold?
The maker's label gives it for that size and channel layout, load spread evenly. Pallet runners and point loads need their own rating. The beam pair still sets the level limit.
Can wire decking replace pallet supports?
For most loads, yes. Supports are cheaper for good pallets with nothing loose.
